KYNKYNY Art presents THE NEW ROMANTICS from February 10th to March 5th, 2016.
For centuries, art has been inspired by the idea of love from the ancient Greek sculptures of Eros and Psyche and the sensuous scriptures of Khajuraho to the sublime paintings of Venus created during the Italian Renaissance. In this tradition, KYNKYNY Art presents an evocative and delightful take on the world of contemporary love with all its attendant magic and chaos with THE NEW ROMANTICS. This large-scale thematic group exhibition is a celebration of the world relationships and is also something of a tour de force and brings together an unprecedented line-up of exciting artists, including Anand Panchal, Avijit Roy, Bakula Nayak, Basuki Dasgupta, Bhoomika Dange, Biswajit Mondal, Chandan Chowdury, Dhananjaya, Dhrubajyoti Baral, Elayaraja, Francis Leon, G. Subramanian, Ganapati Hegde, HR Das, JMS Mani, Jyothi Hattarki, Naina Maithani Kulkarni, Nishant Dange, Paresh Hazra, Sachin Jaltare, Saraf Nataraj, Sivabalan, Shyamal Mukherjee, Spoorthy Murali, Subrata Das and Yuvan Bothi Sathuvar.
The participating artists combine forces and present stirring, soulful and sublime meditations on the nature of postmodern love. The artworks collectively explore the intricate web of relationships we weave with one another, with nature and with God. Some are fleeting and ephemeral, some intoxicating and clandestine, and others melancholic or amorous.
Both feel-good and moving, the show promises to be a treat for art connoisseurs, aesthetes, closet romantics and all purveyors of romance. But above all, it reminds us of the healing and redemptive nature of romance, and is an ode to that inexplicable phenomenon we call love.
