Kozhikode to thrill with kayaking festival conducted as part of the Malabar River Festival will start from this month 28.
This is the second time that the Challipuzha and Iruvanjipuzha at Thusharagiri and Kodencheri will host the festival. Around 50 foreigners along with locals and other state adventurers will take part in the competition. Jackapo Neronthra, an Italian native, is behind the festival and he said that they are happy to come back again to Malabar. Apart from kayaking competitions, this time River Rafting also has been included. Chief Minister will inaugurate the festival which will conclude on July 28.
The Malabar River Festival is south India’s only extreme adventure competition organized on the behalf of Kerala Adventure Tourism Promotion Society by Kerala Kayak Academy and Madras Fun Tools.After a highly successful event last year, the Malabar River festival returns this year on July 28th-31st 2016 and promises to be “bigger, better and harder”. With loads of prize money at stake, about 150 participants from all over the world and challenging water levels. This year’s competition will feature events for beginners, intermediate kayakers and a special category of prizes for the best paddlers of the Indian subcontinent. There is something in it for everyone, so see you on the river !
